First blog....

Ok, I don't usually write a whole lot of these, so people will have to bear with me until I get the hang of this. I found someone else on here who said that use this blogging as an emotional outlet. I thought that was a wonderful idea!

Well, I'm 27 and have been living with lupus for what seems like an eternity. I've had the official diagnosis for about 4 years now, but I've had problems since I was at least 16.

I've been blessed, very unexpectedly, with three children. Along the way, I've also lost several children through miscarriages and a stillbirth. I've been told several times that I'm lucky to have the kids...that many women can't have them. I was lucky enough to not have a lot of problems while I was pregnant. They are the reason that I get up most mornings. It's hard to feel sorry for yourself when you have babies needing you to take care of them!

My life is fairly normal right now. I'm a full-time student at a community college where we live. So far, things are going ok. I have days where I'd rather stay in bed and cry, but what does that accomplish? Pain isn't too bad right now. A few weeks ago, though, I could hardly move. My doctor flipped a few meds around, which appears to be working a bit. I have to the doctor at the end of next week b/c I've started having some kidney troubles. Just the beginning is what I keep hearing. My heart has also started causing me some troubles, but I just do what the doc tells me and keep pushing away.

Well, I don't really know what else to say right now...I must admit that just writing this little big has made me feel better. Friends and family have no idea what day to day life is like for me and can't even begin to empathize. It'll be nice to find some other people who understand what it's like and people that I can lean on when things get bad. I haven't met anyone else withe the disease yet and that gets lonely...
